Dagens Nyheter 2005-01-15  ”The artworld has barely tired of process art and relational esthetical, now that we begin to hear about the return of tactile and sensual painting. The question is what the come back will bring with it this time. If Jamtås´ current exhibition at Galleri Cupido is any indication, I feel optimistic about the future. Jamtås´ serene paintings are based on a dialogue between surface treatment and under painting and bare a sense of gravity that I have a particular weakness for. But Jamtås is apparently not a good example of painting´s return. He is more closely related to artists like Ann Edholm and Håkan Rehnberg. They will always paint, and they will always call our attention to the act of painting, which as all art, perseveres.”

Apparently using the methods of a two dimensional abstract painter, Jamtås incorporates subtle contradictions in his technique. The results are both serious and playful. Three dimensional illusion is as viable as non representational painting. Independent and inseparable they live together on the same surfaces.
